Materials for oil seals
- Jul 18, 2018 -

Oil seals commonly used materials are: NBR, fluorine rubber, silicone rubber, acrylate rubber, polyurethane, PTFE and so on.

It has good heat resistance, wear resistance, resistance to a variety of lubricants, grease, oil and gas mixtures, suitable for temperature-30~120C, but can not be used in phosphoric acid ester system hydraulic oil and extreme pressure additive gear oil, in gasoline and low aniline point of mineral oil performance stable.

Poly (acrylic ester) rubber (ACM)

Oil-resistant, heat-resistant properties, wear-resistant, ozone-resistant, ultraviolet radiation, especially resistance to contain extreme pressure liquid agent lubricants, gear oil, motor oil, oil, oil series hydraulic oil, etc., applicable to-30~150C scope of work.

Fluorine Rubber (FPM)

Anti-Aging, heat resistance, oil-resistant, almost applicable to all lubricants, fuel oil, gasoline, in the oil containing extreme pressure additive is not easy to harden, but cold resistance, high temperature wear resistance, permanent compression deformation is large, suitable for temperature-20~250C.

Silicone rubber

With outstanding high and low temperature, can be used over a long period of 150 degrees Celsius without changes in performance, can be used in 200 consecutive 10000h, in the -70~260 operating temperature range to maintain its unique use of elasticity and ozone resistance, weather and other advantages.

Ptfe With outstanding chemical stability, thermal stability, antifriction and self-lubricating, the pyrolysis temperature of more than 400. As a result, it can work well within the 200~300C temperature range.

In addition to free fluorine and alkali metals, chemical substances, solvents, hydrogen and oxygen compounds and acids have excellent corrosion resistance. NBR and fluoro rubber materials are used in a relatively wide range of oil seals, the former cost is low, but the temperature and sealing has a significant improvement, but the cost is high, and still have some common rubber material undesirable characteristics, such as poor wear performance, short service life, eccentric reaction to the shaft is particularly sensitive, leakage phenomenon is still relatively common.

PTFE Oil seal is a high technical content of the product, is the future direction of oil seal development. When selecting oil seal materials, it is necessary to consider the compatibility of the material to the working medium, the adaptability of the working temperature range and the following ability of the lip flange to rotate the rotating shaft at high speed. General oil seal work when its lip edge temperature is higher than the working medium temperature 20~50℃, in selecting oil seal material should pay attention to.

The working range of oil seals is related to the materials used in oil seals: the material is NBR (NBR)-40~120℃, Alex Rubber (ACM)-30~180℃, fluorine rubber (FPM)-25~300℃.
